TEN-year-old Marley Read was the star of the show in Maldon Golf Club's Chris Reece-Ford Memorial Trophy.
Read returned a fine score of +5 to win the trophy by three clear shots, a result which lifts him to third place in the annual Order of Merit table.
He will also see his handicap cut by two more shots.
Paul Harris was runner-up ahead of in-form Billy Mason on countback, after both players finished on +2.
Mason thereby extended his lead at the top of the club's Order of Merit to a commanding 66 points, having recorded a victory, two seconds and two third-place finishes in the first five qualifying events of the season.
Fourth place in the Reece-Ford Trophy went to Ian Ladkin on +1, while Ed Bishop was fifth with a score of level on countback.
The nearest the pin prizes were won by Andy West and Josh Cousins.
Maldon's Seniors played out another of their regular, inter-club matches with an eight-a-side contest at The Essex Golf and Country Club at Earls Colne.
A competitive, friendly match was won by The Essex by six matches to two.
Two competitions have recently been played in the Ladies' section.
Sylvia's Salver was won by Jane Henderson with a score of 28 points.
Mary Clark was runner-up on 22 points, with Kate Stevenson third with 21.
Sue Gardiner was the runaway winner in the Mynott Cup.
Her score of 35 points gave her a 12-shot victory margin ahead of Val Rayner and Mary Clark, who both returned scores of 23 points to finish second and third respectively.
