SOUTHMINSTER'S Aragon Football Club celebrated the end of their first year in the Chelmsford Invitation League with a prize-giving dinner at the Three Horseshoes, in Althorne.
The club takes its name from the painting of Katherine of Aragon, which appears on the pub sign at the Queens Head, in Southminster.
The club was formed at the beginning of the 2015/16 season and plays at the King George V Memorial Field, in Southminster.
In their first season, Aragon finished mid-table and were runners up in their League Cup.
Manager Gordon Harrold said: "It was a great first year.
"The lads played really well and their commitment was fantastic.
"We’re now planning to train hard over the summer and our number one priority will be to win the league."
The team plays on Sunday mornings and is sponsored by the Queens Head pub.
Anyone interested in joining should contact the club manger via the Queens Head.
Club president Adrian Fluker said: "Nearly all the players come from Southminster and Gordon has done a brilliant job in setting up the club and I'm delighted they have done so well in their first year."
