DAVE Purkiss secured back-to-back victories at Maldon Golf Club after winning the A12 Trophy, with a score of 39 points.

Purkiss, who last week won the ECAGU Salver, had a three-shot margin of victory in the competition, inaugurated in 2015 by past captain Jim Culleton.

There was a three-way countback for second to fourth places as a trio of competitors scored 36 points.

Graham Page secured second, Bill Guthrie third and Dave Newton fourth.

Rob Poynton was placed fifth with 35 points and also won the nearest the pin prize on the par three fifth/14th hole.

The nearest the pin prize on the sixth/15th went to Sam Cummins.

Meanwhile, a large field gathered to contest the annual Peter Harris Memorial.

The event is always well supported and, despite the rather inclement weather, this year was no exception.

The winning pair were brothers Rob and Paul Holland, with 40 points in the better ball stableford format.

Their win was most appropriate as it is Rob and Paul who annually organise the event as a charity fund-raiser and memorial for their late friend and golfing partner Peter Harris.

As a result, they got to present themselves with the winners' pair of Silver Trowels, which mark Peter's life in the building trade.

Second place went to Alan Buckingham and Billy Mason on 39 points.

Over £1,100 was raised on the day for the captain's charity.

Maldon's seniors played for the Veterans Cup.

This bogey competition was won by Neil Clark with a score of -1.

Peter Baker was second on -2, with Dave Allen third on -3.
