BURNHAM on Crouch's Danny Buchan says he is focused on doing a great job ahead of the start of the MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship at Silverstone.

Buchan will be racing for Lloyds British Moto Rapido Ducati this season and cannot wait to get going.

He said: “This weekend, it'll be race day - no more testing, we can't wait. Ready and focused to do a great job.”

Buchan is pleased with the progress that the team have already made during pre-season testing.

The 22-year-old Superbike rider has made great strides, steadily gaining confidence in the Ducati Panigale after recent tests in Cartagena and Guadix.

Buchan said: "I felt really good with how the Spanish tests progressed and we did a lot of laps.

"The bike improved with major changes to the brakes, suspension, chassis and fuel tank which turned out really well.

"I've now got a good feeling with the Ducati and we carried out some longer runs where my times were really consistent so the team are happy with how it went and now we are ready for the two official UK tests.”

Buchan recently took part in testing at Silverstone, which gave him and the team a good opportunity to get a good direction and set up for the first race of the season.

He said: “It was a good afternoon on my Moto Rapido Ducati Panigale R - ended up P5 overall, was happy with that.

"We only did the afternoon as we had a small problem in session two which meant we only did a total of 20 laps.

"My boys sorted the problem out and got me out for the last session - I felt comfortable right away and was able to get down to some OK times.

"It's a long season ahead and we will keep chipping away until it's perfect."

Buchan also took part in testing at Donington and in the first session, was inside the top five on the leading Ducati.

The Lloyds British Moto Rapido Ducati rider held off Jakub Smrz on the Smiths Racing BMW, ahead of Shane Byrne on the Be Wiser Ducati.

He was 11th in the second session and tenth in the third, completing some consistent times and finishing in the top ten overall for the Lloyds British Moto Rapido Ducati team.
