BURNHAM ON CROUCH’S men’s section battled it out for a festive bird.

The Turkey Trot winners, competing in a betterball event, were David Frost (13) and new member Eric Derham (10) with 44 points, from runners-up Simon Orrin (25) and Paul Winn (11) with 42.

President John Humphries presented the prizes with captain Roger Miles.

The course is still playing well and 24 men played in the December Tankard.

Division one had three people on top with 71 nett but on countback Chris Roberts took first place, with Tony Wilkins second and Dean Bewers in third.

In division two, Steve Faulkner took first place with 73 nett. Roy Carter took second with 74 nett on countback from Tim Woodford.

The Veterans’ section held their annual Christmas Lunch and Prize Giving last Wednesday.

This was preceded by a four-ball nine-hole Waltz, in which 56 members took part.

The winners on the front nine, with 44 points, were Alan Glass, John Merry, Les Palmer and Terry Davis.

The winners on the back nine, with 41 points, were Stephen Hull, David Gregson, Peter Hipsey and Harry Hastwell.

A total of 66 sat down to lunch including a number of guests, among them was lady captain Jane Hull.

On completion of the meal the 2015 Captain Barry Pressley presented some of the 2015 winners with their trophies.

Alan Turner, Ron Batt, John Woodward, Ron Button, Ken Morgan, Tony Hill, George Neighbour, Jim Hunt and Frank Turbin, having reached the age of 80 and who have served the section for over ten years, were presented Honorary Life Membership Certificates by John Merry in recognition of all they have given to the section to make it what it is today.
