HEYBRIDGE Swifts boss Jody Brown knows he faces two tough games in quick succession.

Swifts have lost their last five Ryman League division north games and now sit at the bottom of the table.

Their latest defeat was a 1-0 reverse at Haringey Borough on Saturday.

Swifts had been due to be in league action on Tuesday night but opponents Wroxham were involved in a Norfolk Cup match against Great Yarmouth.

Heybridge now prepare for the visit of Waltham Abbey on Saturday and a trip to Thamesmead Town on Monday evening.

Brown said: “We have two very tough games coming up.

“Waltham Abbey will be a tough game – they are down there with us.

“I was manager at Grays last season and they have just played them in the FA Trophy.

“They were very complimentary about them and said they couldn’t believe their league position.

“But we will be prepared for them, though.”

And on Monday Brown will be renewing old acquaintances with Thamesmead Town manager Terry Spillane.

Brown was Spillane’s assistant when he was in charge of Maldon and Tiptree.

Brown said: “We have Thamesmead on Monday night who are managed by my old friend Terry Spillane.

“Terry’s teams are always competitive and are not the sort of teams to roll over against lower opposition.

“What they lack in skill they make up for in determination, effort and hard work.

“It will be nice to see Terry again but once we are there we know the stakes.

“They are looking for a promotion push and we are looking to get out of the relegation zone.

“I do know how Terry sets up his teams and he knows a lot about me.

“Hopefully we can cause an upset and go there after a good performance against Waltham.”
