HEYBRIDGE Swifts boss Jody Brown was disappointed by his side’s defeat at Harlow Town in a game blighted by strong winds.

Swifts fell to a 3-1 defeat in very windy conditions at Harlow in their Ryman League division north encounter at Barrows Farm on Tuesday night, following on from their 1-0 defeat against Dereham on Saturday.

Brown said: “The wind was horrific on Tuesday.

“All three of their goals came from it.

“On any normal day I would put it down to bad goalkeeping but the ball was swirling around and you had to feel sorry for Danny (Sambridge).

“The wind was a killer, two of their goals were toe-pokes into the area.

“I thought we matched them for large parts of the game and we should have gone in 1-0 up at half-time.

“But it was disappointing that a cross lofted into the box was caught by the wind and beat Danny.

“It was disappointing because at times we looked like the better side.

“The wind made for an awful game for the spectators.

“But these are the kinds of games we have to grind results out of.

“We have three big games coming up now that we have to get something out of.”

This weekend Swifts travel to Haringey Borough.
