DAVID Wright was extremely proud of ten-man Maldon and Tiptree’s battling display to earn a point.

The Jammers secured a 0-0 Ryman League north division draw at Tilbury on Tuesday night.

The Jammers were reduced to ten men on the stroke of half-time when Kieran Monlouis was given a straight red card for violent conduct.

A melee ensued and Tilbury subsitutes Jimmy Cook and Joe Nightingill, who came out of the dugout, and Daniel Glozier picked up yellow cards along with Maldon’s Nnamdi Nwachuku.

Wright said: “I was extremely proud of the way our players dug in to secure a point.

“Our keeper made some good saves but I think we created some good chances as well.

“We only had one outfield player on the bench so I didn’t have many options to replace tired legs.”

On the sending off of Monlouis, Wright said: “The ref has sent him off for violent conduct.

“I am going to talk to our lads and Kieran to see what went on.

“If it was violent conduct then I will be very disappointed.

“But I was also disappointed in Tilbury’s reaction, with their substitutes coming on to the pitch and joining in and only one of their bench staying in the technical area.

“It was ridiculous behaviour.”

Maldon entertain Soham Town Rangers this weekend and Wright wants to keep his side’s good run to continue.

They have won three and drawn one of their last four games and Wright wants more of the same.

He said: “We want to keep our momentum going and our performance levels high.

“With no disrespect to other sides we need to concentrate on our game.

“The most important thing is that we turn up and play.”
