BURNHAM Ramblers boss Keith Wilson was delighted that his team’s good performances were finally translated into three points as they ended a lengthy wait for an Essex Senior League victory.

Having not won in their last six league outings, Ramblers’ 3-1 win against Sporting Bengal United on Tuesday came as a relief, but was one that had been coming after a string of improving displays.

Stuart Judd scored twice after Joe Skeels had got the opener from a free-kick and even though they conceded late on, Wilson now wants them to turn the win into a block of positive results, starting with their game against FC Romania at Leslie Field on Saturday.

The Burnham boss said: “It was a nice feeling to get three points at last and we deserved it as well.

“Not just from the last performance, but from performances recently.

“We should have won on Saturday, but lost 2-1 to Southend Manor and it was only two mistakes that cost us as we were dominant for most of the game. However, we took our chances against Sporting Bengal and it was nice to see smiling faces around the club.

“Hopefully we can push on now because we are better than where we are in the table (13th).

“It won’t be easy because Romania will be an even tougher test, but if we can win that then we have two winnable games after and if you win four-five-six games on the bounce then you shoot up the table.”

Wilson said the win may leave him with some selection dilemmas for Saturday’s home game as several players who had been unavailable for Tuesday’s fixture would now return for the weekend.

One player who won’t feature, though, is goalkeeper Lawrence Priddle, who broke his toe in the defeat by Southend Manor on Saturday, and Wilson has brought in ex-Chelmsford City and Canvey Island stopper Ashley Harrison as short-term cover. Former Tilbury forward Andy Edmunds has also joined Ramblers.

Following the game against FC Romania, Burnham are due to head to Newham FC in the league on Wednesday.
