BRIGHTLINGSEA REGENT romped to a 5-1 victory in tonight’s Ryman League north division derby at HEYBRIDGE SWIFTS.

The visitors were three-up in just 15 minutes, thanks to an early goal from Russell Malton and two in quick succession from Phil Kelly.

Josh Gould then added a fourth ten minutes into the second half.

Luis Morrison netted Swifts’ consolation, before Luke Read continued his excellent scoring run with a goal in the 90th minute.

Elsewhere, MALDON & TIPTREE bowed out of the Essex Senior Cup, against Aveley.

The third-round tie finished 2-2, after 90 minutes.

The Jammers’ goals came in the second half and were scored by David Segura and Darren McQueen.

Junior Baker then pulled one back for the Millers, before a very late equaliser from Liam Nash.

It led to a penalty shoot-out and it was Aveley who prevailed 5-4.

HALSTEAD TOWN bowed out of the same competition, also at the third-round stage, after losing 4-1 at home to Tilbury.

The visitors were four-up before Tom Holdstock curled in a 60th-minute consolation for the Humbugs.

There was also a penalty shoot-out at FC CLACTON, where the Seasiders were in Thurlow Nunn League Challenge Cup action at home to Ipswich Wanderers.

After falling behind in the first half, skipper Aaron Condon drove home an equaliser with a shot from the right after 51 minutes.

It stayed 1-1 and went to penalties and it was Ipswich who won 4-1.
