BURNHAM Ramblers boss Keith Wilson is grateful that his side have no game this weekend.

His team fell to Essex Senior League 3-2 and 2-0 defeats against Barking and Bowers and Pitsea, respectively, at the weekend and on Tuesday night.

Wilson said: “We haven’t got a fixture this weekend so it will give us time to regroup.

“I’ll need to get some new players in as it’s like emergency ward ten here at the moment.

“Our only recognised left-sided player was stretchered off on Tuesday night and left the ground on crutches.

“We changed the system but everything I touch at the moment seems to go wrong.”

The Ramblers fell behind to a goal in the first half against Bowers and Pitsea before a second-half penalty sealed their fate.

Wilson said: “We were beaten by the better side on the night.

“They played efficient football and kept plugging away and got their goals.

“I am a bit disappointed that we gave away a soft penalty but the lads gave their all.”

A ten-man Ramblers side fell to defeat against Barking on Saturday.

And Wilson wasn’t happy with the way that Ricky Evans got himself sent off early in the second half or with some of the refereeing decisions made during the afternoon.

He said: “I came away a little disappointed.

“We had Ricky sent off after 15 minutes and it is difficult to play 75 minutes with only ten men.

“I have got no qualms with the sending off. There was a late tackle on Barking’s Joe Pearman, they squared up to each other and Ricky moved his head in Pearman’s direction and you just can’t do that.

“Then we gift them the lead with an own goal and 90 seconds later they have have made it 2-0.

“Up until then we were the better side.

“We then go and get a goal back but we should have then been facing ten men.

“Their centre-half has already been booked for a late tackle and then he bearhugs Dan Williams to the ground and doesn’t get a second yellow card.

“The referee, about a minute later, awards us a penalty, I don’t know what for and I don’t think anyone in the ground did.

“I think he knows he has made a mistake and given it to us.

“We equalised but I would have rather gone into half-time 2-1 down and both sides with ten men.

“It’s difficult – our keeper has made some great saves all afternoon and is then beaten by a corner to make it 3-2.

“We had chances at the end to equalise but we tired and Barking were the better team at the end.

“At 11 against 11 I think we would have won the game, at ten versus ten I think we would have won the game or at the very least get something out of it.

“Their centre-half was subbed at half-time to prevent him being sent off.

“I feel we were cheated out of the game and that’s a bit hard to take.

“But that’s the way things are going at the moment.

“I can’t fault the lads, they gave everything.

“It wasn’t fair on them.”
