A BAD injury to Joe Paxman was a double blow for Burnham Ramblers as they crashed out of the FA Vase.
Paxman suffered a broken fibula and a dislocation in the first round qualifying replay 4-2 defeat against Sporting Bengal on Tuesday night at Leslie Field.
Ramblers boss Keith Wilson said after the defeat: “I am not even thinking about the result at the moment.
“My only concerns are with young Paxs (Paxman).
“At the end of the day, that’s the only thing that really matters. I will look back on the game later.”
After being held to a first round qualifying 1-1 draw after extra-time on Saturday, the replay took place on Tuesday night.
And the home side surrendered a 2-0 half-time lead to lose out 4-2.
Wilson said: “We basically capitulated in the second half.
“At 2-0 we were cruising and we should have had a few more.
“But like Saturday we just let it go.
“They scored within a minute and seven seconds of the restart then got up a head of steam.
“And to be fair they stopped us playing.”
Looking ahead to this weekend’s league game against Sawbridgeworth Town, Wilson knows it will be a tough fixture.
He said: “We enter a period now when we have games on Saturday and mid-week and Saturday and mid-week.
“We have players still building their fitness so in that respect it’s good but only if you’re winning.
“We were unbeaten in three games before Tuesday night but Saturday will be a tough test – Sawbridgeworth have started the season well.
“But we have made a number of signings over recent weeks and I think we have a squad able to compete at the top of the table.”
