DAVID Wright has set his Maldon and Tiptree players the target of reaching the first round proper as they embark on another FA Cup adventure.
The Jammers boss will pit his wits in the world-famous competition for the first time as a manager this weekend when they travel to play Essex Senior League outfit Hullbridge Sports (kick-off 3pm).
Maldon head into the preliminary round tie knowing they will have to win five matches before reaching the first round proper, where Football League sides enter the competition.
Wright knows that prospect is a long way off – but says it is something for his Ryman League division north side to strive for.
Wright said: “We have to go a long, long way before we get into the First Round Proper and it’s a mountain to climb.
“But we have a really good opportunity to have a good go at it.
“The target down the line is to try and win several games and get to that stage, because that would be a magnificent achievement.”
