THE main event of the week at Burnham on Crouch was the Tee Cup.

This is a mixed drawn board competition and 26 pairs played a very competitive greensomes with some good scoring but one outstanding score.

There were four pairs with 39 points.

Walter Thompson and Karen Hull, Liz Tolhurst and Fred Banfield, Jillean Hipsey and Steven Hull and Roy Carter and Debs Wolton who secured third spot.

In second were Lady Captain Elaine Mason and John Fisk with 40 but the winners with a magnificent 45 were Sue Evans and Nic Hull.

During the week the men played in the La Moye Trophy.

This originates from La Moye in Jersey where it was buried in Past President Tony Hill’s grandparent’s garden during the war years.

He then presented the trophy to the club for a 60+ competition and 48 players took part.

Result: 1 Don Evans 37 pts, 2 Bob Wallace 35 pts ocb, 3 Derrick Pearson 35 ocb. 4 Raymond Hart 35 pts.

The ladies held their August medal competition and being August the numbers were down to 21 players.

Scoring was surprising considering how well the course is playing.

Results: Silver Division: 1 Cally Fearn 73 nett ocb, 2 Debs Wolton 73 nett.

Bronze Division: 1 Barbara Church 73 nett.

Running alongside this competition was a nine-hole stableford and this was won by Joyce Leach with 15 points.

The cadets played for The Robin Tucker Trophy on Sunday.

Results: 1 George Stacey-Stevens 34 pts, 2 Sam Gorringe 31 pts.

Nearest the pin: 8th and 11th: George Stacey-Stevens.

Longest drive: 18th: Mackenzie Maberley.

On Monday, the Veterans held their George Neighbour Better ball Trophy which is a board competition.

Twenty pairs took part.

Results: 1 Vets Captain Barry Pressley and Gordon Relph 42 pts, 2 Dave Gregson and Ray Smith 40 pts.
