BURNHAM Ramblers boss Keith Wilson was left embarrassed by his side’s exit from this season’s FA Cup.

And the Lelslie Road manager has vowed to make changes to his team before this Saturday’s Essex Senior League encounter at Waltham Forest.

Wilson was left fuming when Ramblers were dumped out of the cup in a 4-0 defeat away at Spartan South Midlands League premier division Cockfosters.

Two goals in each half saw Wilson’s men go out at the extra preliminary round stage, despite a bright start.

Wilson said: “It is the first time I have walked off a pitch and felt embarrassed as a manager.

“They weren’t any better than us and we shouldn’t have lost by that much.

“But a 4-0 scorleine tells its own story.

“It’s not through lack of preparation – we had an excellent training session the Thursday before.

“It’s all about attitude.

“I am going to get some new faces in – I can only think of two players from Saturday that I would definitely put in the side and then after that it would be throw the papers in the air and see where they land.”

Looking ahead to this weekend’s game, Wilson wants a radical change from his side.

He wants to see an improvement in attitude and some real grit from Ramblers.

He said: “We have Waltham Forest away on Saturday.

“I would take a dogged 1-0 win with an own goal.

“I want a performance at the weekend with a little bit of fight about them.

“Hopefully we will have some new faces in by Saturday.

“But as a coaching team we are not suffering that again.

“We have to be able to go out there and enjoy it or what’s the point.”

Wilson was, however, still feeling the pain of last Saturday’s cup exit.

And he was blunt about his side’s performance.

He added: “Saturday was probably the worst game I have had as a manager.

“The first 20 minutes we did OK but then two horrific mistakes put us 2-0 down.

“They were just long balls over the top and they scored from them.

“We started the second half and had a scrambled chance but if we had been there all day I don’t think we would have scored.

“I had the players in the changing room for a good 20 minutes to half an hour after the match.

“We didn’t have anything about us.

“We go behind and that’s it we look as if we give up.

“I say we have a new team but I looked around that dressing room and out of 15 of the squad, nine players were here last season.

“They have a losing mentality, they go behind and they accept it.

“We can’t have that I am going to release five players.

“I’m even thinking of playing myself, overweight and with one good leg – it would show better attitude.”
