THE Dengie Hundred Bowling Association Ladies’ Invitation Triples was run by and hosted at the Burnham Bowls Club.

Sixteen teams attended and were split into two leagues with all playing four games of six ends. The winners of each league then played in a final.

Sales of refreshments raised £73.50 for the Burnham Club, while a raffle raised around £86 for the DHBA.

The final saw a very close game but the triumphant team were Joy Campbell, Val Hyam and Hazel Bradley, from Burnham, who were presented with the trophy and £60 by DHBA president Valerie Hackney.

The runners-up were Sue Crocket, Shirley Weekly and Sheila Pearce, from Wickford BC, who received £30.

Burnham’s Chelmsford & District BA Wednesday night league teams had some good results.

The A team won 10-0 against Great Baddow A, the C team won 8-2 against Writtle C but the B team lost to Writtle B 10-0.

Burnham’s A team lost in the second round of the C&D Atkinson Shield at home against Great Baddow A.

Burnham Ladies played in the first round of the Essex County Women’s Bowling Association Albert Crabb competition against Courtauld Halstead.

On the rink at home Burnham drew but away they managed a win by three shots and move on to the second round.

Burnham played two friendlies. The ladies played at Rayleigh, where they won by three shots over two triples.

The second game was at home against South Woodham Ferrers over four mixed triples and Burnham won 90-50.
