THE Forrester Park men’s section battled it out for the Leigh Higgs Memorial Jug, one of the club’s most prestigious trophies.

The winner this year was Chris Collins with nett 66, beating Steve Corkhill on countback.

The ladies played their spring meeting where Judy Podd took the major honours with 38 points, with Margaret Tristan second with 32 points. Marian Brunt was third with 31 beating Anona Straker on countback.

The afternoon Texas Scramble was won by the team of Chris Davis, Chris Mills and Jane Ash and Margaret Triston and Carol Manning won nearest the pin prizes.

The veterans played for the Bees trophy, a divisional stableford competition where the proceeds are donated to Cancer Research.

The winner of the gold division, with the best round of the day, was Ron Stovell with 41 points.

Jeff Atkinson was second with 37, beating Peter Cartwright on countback.

Ted Moulds won the silver division with 36.

Simon Harding beat Ron Wimpress on countback for second place, both with 35.

The bronze division was won by Dick Yelland on 39. with Mike Donovan beating Ron Adlington on countback for second place, both with 34.

Seventeen past veterans’ captains contested the competition for the Past Captains’ Cup, which was won by Dennis Morley.

The May bank holiday mixed competition was a combined stableford which was won by Susan and Alan Wilson with 74 points.

Eric and Irene Hoffman took second with 64 and Jan Collier and Paul Messenger were third with 63.

Alan and Susan both won nearest the pin prizes as did Ron Ketley and Alison Martin.
