MALDON and Tiptree have two ‘massive’ games left but manager Alan Kimble is positive that his side will avoid the drop.

The Jammers lost their Ryman League division one north encounter with second-placed Harlow Town 3-1 on Saturday.

This fourth defeat in a row for Kimble’s side sees them three points above the drop zone.

Barkingside are still in the fight after winning 3-1 at Brentwood Town on Tuesday night.

Cray Wanderers’ 4-0 victory at Waltham Abbey on Tuesday saw Maldon drop to 20th in the table.

And Kimble now has two games left in the season to keep his side in the division.

Maldon entertain Dereham Town, who are just outside the play-off places in sixth spot, on Saturday and then travel to Waltham Abbey the following week.

And Kimble knows it is going to be a tough game but is confident that he will be able to fulfil the goal he was brought into the club for.

He said: “We have two massive games left, one home and one away “Dereham on Saturday are chasing a play-off place and we will be looking to confirm our place in the division.

“So it will be two teams with something to play for.

“My job when I joined was to keep the club up.”

“I am confident in the job and in the players that we have to keep us in this division.”
