BURNHAM Ramblers boss Bertie Brayley is preparing for his side’s ‘biggest’ game of the season.

Burnham fell to a 1-0 defeat against Heybridge Swifts in their Ryman League division one north Dengie derby encounter last Saturday.

Shamido Pedulu struck just before half-time, after Burnham had had the upper-hand, to seal the three points with a breakaway goal.

Now Burnham, who sit at the bottom of the table, will be looking to gain ground on the side directly above them, Cray Wanderers.

Wanderers are the visitors to Leslie Field on Saturday and sit seven points above their hosts, after their 1-0 win at Redbridge on Tuesday night.

A much-needed win for Burnham would close the gap and put pressure on Wanderers.

Brayley said: “The Cray match is the biggest game of the season for us.

“I gave the players Tuesday night off to be with their families and we will train again tonight.

“Hopefully they will be refreshed and I want them to give everything out on the pitch on Saturday.

“If you look at our results recently, you can see that they have improved.

“We are not getting spanked by anyone.

“If we win we can put pressure on Cray then that’s great and we can look about moving up the table and getting above them.”
