It was quarter-finals day for the Burnham on Crouch Men’s Winter league.

A breezy but sunny day saw the winners of each league being drawn against runners-up.

The father and son Davies team that have come on strongly in the last few weeks continued to play well, scoring 38 points to beat Paul Winn and Steve Hitchens with 32.

Simon Vidgeon and George Grimes had 36 to beat Micky Leonard and Paul Lindus on 32.

In the third quarter-final Don Vidgeon and Tom Cecil hit 34 to beat James Marchant and Tony Wilkin on 32.

The Hawksworth brothers, took the final semi-final slot with 36 after beating Graham Bowers and Fenton Yeulett, who had 31.

It will be a busy weekend with the first of the season’s main events, the Grouse Foursomes, the winter league semi-finals and the ladies playing the first medal of the season.
