BURNHAM boss Bertie Brayley wants his side to give their all against Thurrock.

The high-flying Ship Lane side are the visitors to Leslie Field on Saturday in a Ryman League division one north encounter.

But Burnham, lying at the foot of the table, have been boosted by a great 2-1 win away at the weekend against Thamesmead Town, completing a league double over their hosts.

The Ramblers had been due to travel to Ware on Tuesday night but the match was postponed after the Wodson Park pitch failed an afternoon inspection.

The cancellation left Brayley frustrated that he couldn’t keep his side’s winning momentum going but also grateful that his side could rest before the visit of Thurrock.

Brayley said: “I was disappointed that we couldn’t play on Tuesday night.

“It would have been good to keep our momentum and that winning feeling from Saturday going.

“It has happened to us before.

“We had a win and a draw, then a match was postponed and all our momentum went.

“On the other hand it will give the boys time to recover from the win against Thamesmead “They gave their all in that match and Thurrock will be a stern test.”

Looking ahead to the match against seventh-placed Thurrock, who will be continuing their efforts to claim a play-off spot at the end of the season, Brayley said: “Every game is important for us now.

“We would love to keep that winning feeling going, especially at home.

“We would desperately like to give something for the home fans to cheer about.

“They need to get behind us as well, it’s time for everyone to come together as a club.

“It is time to cut out negativity and go forward together.”
