A large field turned out for Five Lakes’ President’s New Year Cup.

The event, normally played as a strokeplay competition, was changed to a stableford format to speed up play.

Three golfers returned 37 points, Mike Taylor (12), Nigel Popper (13), and Malcolm Pook (6).

Pook claimed third place, and the best scratch score 77 gross, with a better last six holes.

Second place went to Phil Robson (9) with 39 points.

However, winner and holder of the trophy for 2015 was Frank Taylor (20) also returning 39, scoring 20 points on his back nine holes.

Birdie twos were claimed on the par three eighth by Richard Hardy-King, Rob Kilgour, Jack Garnett, Mike Owen, and Malcolm Pook, who also claimed a brace on the eighth and the 191-yard 16th, and Alan Garnett on the tricky 11th.
