MEMBERS at Maldon competed in round ten of the Ben Volta Winter league.

This week’s format was a two-ball Texas Scramble played off one third of combined handicap with each player having to take a minimum of six tee shots.

A large field of 28 pairs enjoyed the fine weather conditions and there were some excellent scores yet again this week.

First place went to the father-and-son pairing of Pete and Elliot Hawkins (8 hcp) who shot a gross 67, four under par, to amass 48 stableford points.

Second place went to last week’s winners Sam Cummins and Alan Buckingham (5 hcp) with 45 points, also equivalent to a gross 67.

The places from third to sixth were decided by countback with all pairs scoring 44 points.

Keith Hinton and Mark Beckwith were third, followed by Sam Clark and Darren Mason in fourth, Graham Page and Andrew Erskine fifth and Alan Dunsdon and Tom Bownes sixth.

The nearest-the-pin prize for the second shot to the par four sixth/15th hole went to Darren Mason, while George Watson won the mystery prize on the par three fifth/14th.
