MALDON and Tiptree boss Alan Kimble wants to address his side’s away form.

The Jammers secured a battling 2-1 Ryman League division one north win at Park Drive against Redbridge on Saturday.

But Maldon were then scheduled to have two away games in quick succession.

They won 2-0 at Romford on Wednesday night and now travel to Soham Town Rangers this Saturday looking to drag themselves further away from relegation trouble.

And Kimble is aware that any slips ups could be a problem with the teams in the bottom half of the table closing up on points.

Kimble said: “Since we came into the club we’ve only lost one out of our last ten home games and taken 21 out of 30 points, which is great achievement.

“I have said that I wanted to turn our home games into a fortress.

“I like to play good football but we have 13 games left and they are 13 cup finals.”

But Kimble is concerned about his side’s away form, especially with the bunching of teams in the lower half of the table.

He said: “Barkingside’s win on Monday night (2-1 against Heybridge Swifts) has made things tighter in the league and I don’t think anyone is safe as far up as Tilbury (12th).

“We have to go into our away games with the proper mindset.

“Our away form is concerning, we need to add a couple of points on the road to our tally.”

He added: “We have to learn in our away games not be as gung-ho as we are at home but we still need to be in the opposition’s faces from the off.

“But we need to take some of that home form and pick up points on the road.

“It’s all about preparation away from home and playing the conditions.

“We have a great pitch at home and sometimes when we go away it isn’t as good and we have to adapt and play our game to suit the conditions.

“Wroxham was a soggy pitch and we got beaten 4-1 and it was the same at Ware when we lost 4-0.

“We just need to start off on the front foot and go on from there.”
