BURNHAM Ramblers boss Bertie Brayley was disappointed in the manner of their defeat against Chatham.

However, the Leslie Field side’s manager is hoping that his side can bounce back this weekend against Ware.

Ramblers fell to a 1-0 Ryman League division one north defeat at Chatham due to a Jack Long own goal in the first half.

Despite Ramblers’ pressure they couldn’t find a way back into the match and with weather conditions worsening in the second half, with sleet and rain, chances began to peter out.

The previous Tuesday they had been beaten 6-1 by Great Wakering Rovers so the Burnham manager was pleased by the response from his side but the result was disappointing.

Brayley said: “We’ve been playing well and then a small bit of luck goes against us.

“That’s been the case for us for the whole of the season.

“But the lads out on the pitch have to sort that out.

“We need to be more ruthless in front of goal.

“We got beat heavily (6-1) by Great Wakering recently but before that we hadn’t been getting the big scorelines.

“We had vastly improved.

“I had two 18-year-olds playing at centre half on Saturday, Jack Long and Kye Jude, and they put in impressive performances.

“Long’s own goal was unfortunate but that’s how it goes sometimes.”

Brayley, however, continues to look at the positives from the match and their situation, as the side that is propping up the division, heading into this weekend’s league encounter.

He said: “The good thing is that the teams around us have been losing games as well so we haven’t been totally cut adrift.

“When we played Ware earlier in the season it was a physical game and I expect the same. But if we turn up and do things properly there is no reason why we can’t take something from the game.

“They are up there in the top half of the table but that shouldn’t pose a problem.

“We went to Harlow and we should have won that game but didn’t get anything out of the game.

“But it shows that anybody can beat anybody in this league.”
