BURNHAM Ramblers were undone by an unfortunate own goal at Chatham.

A Jack Long own goal in the first half was the difference between the two sides as Ramblers fell to a Ryman League division one north defeat on Saturday.

The team defended well throughout the match and at times kept the ball well but were unable to convert three good chances in the first half.

Ramblers manager Bertie Brayley said: “We could have been 3-0 up in the first 15 minutes but we didn’t take our chances and then we were punished by the own goal.

“We had a great chance early on, right on the penalty spot, but we put it over.

“Again we were playing well but have been dealt a bad hand.

“We weren’t under any real pressure and the ball goes in from Jack Long and we then couldn’t find a way back into the game.

“They came into it for a spell but we had dominated for much of the game.

“It had started off alright but the conditions worsened in the second half with sleet and snow and the pitch started to cut up.”
