MALDON and Tiptree boss Alan Kimble was pleased with the way his side bounced back against Needham Market.

The Jammers took a share of the spoils with a Ryman League division one north 1-1 draw against their visitors at Park Drive on Saturday.

In their last league match Maldon had suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat at Wroxham that left Kimble less than impressed.

Mitch Hunter had given the Jammers the lead before Needham were reduced to ten men when Olliver Fenn was sent off.

However, the visitors surged back to equalise through Luke Ingram before the break.

Kimble said: “I was always wary when they went down to ten men.

“It was like us against Harlow, you fight that little bit harder.

“I don’t think the result takes anything away from us or them.

“Needham are a very good side.

“I think they are the best side in the league and will go on to win it.

“They have big, physical players who all do their jobs well and, over the 90 minutes, I think we matched them.

“It was a much improved performance compared to the one at Wroxham and that’s what I wanted.

“The players got a rollicking after that performance but they came back and showed what they can do.”
