ALI Carter produced another eye-catching display to win group three of snooker’s Championship League.

The Colchester-born potter beat Mark Davis 3-1 in the final on Tuesday.

It means he has now booked his place in the competition’s winners’ group, to be played out in February.

And it continued an encouraging comeback to the sport for Carter, who has battled cancer for much of the past two years but reached the quarter-finals of last week’s Dafabet Masters.

“It was a tough group but I really started to find my game towards the end in the semi-finals and final,” he said.

“I didn’t have a good first day but played myself into it and I’m delighted to get through to the winners’ group.”

Carter saw off fellow Essex player Stuart Bingham in the semi-finals, recording a convincing 3-0 win.
