MALDON boxer Brett Saggs made it three wins in a row at Grays.
Saggs made his third professional boxing appearance and third victory at a busy Grays Civic Hall against Croydon’s Joe Walsh.
Saggs certainly didn’t have it all his own way as the South Londoner rushed in and stayed close to try and negate Saggs’ height and reach.
There was not much in the first round but the Maldon man outworked Walsh to gain the points.
In the second round, just as Saggs looked like he was beginning to get into his stride, a big right hand from Walsh put him down, albeit briefly.
The Maldon fighter quickly composed himself and finished the round on the front foot.
The last two rounds were scrappy as Walsh continually clinched and spoiled, occasionally letting some big punches go but it was Saggs’ workrate that won him the last two rounds and a close decision.
