MALDON and Tiptree boss Alan Kimble believes his side have “turned a corner” – and is not ruling out a dramatic charge for the play-offs.

The Jammers have only lost once in their last four matches and put three more Ryman League division one north points on the board following Saturday’s 4-2 success at home to Waltham Abbey.

It leaves them third from bottom in the table and very much playing catch up, in terms of the promotion race.

Kimble knows his side are rank outsiders to muscle into the play-off race, but says it is vital to retain belief.

“You have to believe in football and that’s such a major part of the game,” said the former defender, who played in the Premier League for Wimbledon.

“You have to believe in your ability – that you’re going to win a tackle, run that extra yard, score goals and win games.

“I’m not getting carried away and clearly we’ve got a lot of catching up to do.

“But we’ve definitely turned a corner and the play-offs aren’t out of the question.

“If we stay injury-free, I believe we’ve now got a team capable of beating anyone in this league and the table is very tight.

“The next few weeks are vital for us, in the run up to Christmas.

“There’s a real buzz and confidence around the whole club again and if we can keep putting points on the board, who’s to say what we can achieve in 2015?

“It’s so important to keep this run going, to be hard to beat all over the pitch.”
