Heybridge Swifts let a two-goal lead slip to crash out of the Robert Dyas League Cup.

They fell to 4-2 defeat at Scraley Road on Tuesday night.

Charlie Gregory gave Swifts the lead on five minutes with a shot from the edge of the area that crept in at the near post.

It got even better two minutes later when Alex Andrews fired home.

However, on 42 minutes Brentwood Town pulled a goal back through Yeshaya Lomotey who beat two defenders and fires in from the left of the box.

After the break Brentwood equalised when Shad Ngandu fired from 19 yards home on 54 minutes.

Then the visitors tuned the game on its head when they took the lead eight minutes later when Christian Mbulu made it 3-2.

Brentwood then wrapped up the tie on 84 minutes when Robbie Rees scored with a long-range effort.

Brightlingsea Regent made it through to the next round with a 3-1 win at Burnham Ramblers.

The visitors took the lead straight after the restart of the second half through Sean Bartlett on 48 minutes.

They doubled the lead on 69 minutes through Charlie Durling.

Phil Kelly then added a third and made the safe on 87 minutes.

Isaac Aubynn pulled a goal back for Ramblers on 90 minutes but it was only a consolation.

Witham Town secured a 1-0 win at Maldon and Tiptree as visiting manager Garry Kimble took the bragging rights over twin brother Alan’s side.
