Heybridge Swifts couldn’t extend their winning run at Cheshunt.

They fell to a 2-1 defeat on Tuesday night in their Ryman League division one north encounter.

Cheshunt took the lead on 12 minutes when Allen Bossman tapped in at the far post.

Aryan Tajbakhsh then had the ball in the back of the net for Cheshunt but it was ruled out for a foul on keeper Danny Sambridge by Adam Bolle.

But Cheshunt did stretch their lead when Bolle fired a shot in from the edge of the box on 33 minutes after Swifts failed to clear.

However, Swifts quickly pulled a goal back when Liam Springett scored directly from a corner.

But Heybridge couldn’t find another goal to get anything from the game.

Burnham Ramblers also fell to defeat when they lost 2-1 at AFC Sudbury.

Sudbury had the first chance when Kris Newby fired a shot on two minutes but Matt Belcher in goal dealt with it comfortably.

Newby then fired over from 25 yards following on long throw on seven minutes.

Sudbury took the lead through Terry Rymer on 16 minutes after he latched on to a long ball and fired home.

James Baker doubled Sudbury’s lead on 71 minutes.

Isaac Aubynn gave Burnham a glimmer of hope on 90 minutes when he pulled a goal back but it was too late to change the outcome of the match.

Brightlingsea Regent fell to a heavy 4-1 defeat at Needham Market.

Needham took the lead when Sam Newson scored after getting on the end of a corner on 18 minutes.

Newson then made it 2-0 with a superb volley on 38 minutes.

It got worse for Brightlingsea when, on 66 minutes, Luke Ingram made it 3-0.

Josh Gould pulled one back for the visitors from the penalty spot on 76 minutes after Westlake had been sent off for Needham.

But it was a brief respite as Needham made it 4-1 through George Clarke on 88 minutes.

In the Ryman Premier Witham Town fell to a 3-1 defeat at home against Maidstone United.

Witham created their first chance when Tom Wraight’s shot was saved by Lee Wrogan on 12 minutes.

But it was Maidstone that took the lead on 41 minutes when Jack Parkinson fed Frannie Collin and he fired home from the edge of the box.

But the lead didn’t last long as Lee Townrow equalised two minutes later.

The visitors went back in front on 70 minutes when Collin scored from the penalty spot following a foul on Alex Flisher in the box.

They increased their lead on 77 minutes when Jay May made it 3-1.
