BURNHAM Ramblers boss Bertie Brayley is looking to strengthen his squad following two disappointing defeats.

They lost out 2-0 on Tuesday night to visiting Brentwood Town in their Ryman League division one north encounter, having been beaten 4-1 at home to Heybridge Swifts on Saturday.

Brayley, speaking about the Brentwood game, said: “To be honest it was a very soild performance in the first half.

“We were the side on top but we seem to have the hoodoo over us in the second half.

“We had looked the better side then our concentration levels dropped.

“The defeat is hard to take. I am going to have to look at ins and outs.

“I came in a week before the season started and this is my pre-season.

“We are not that far away – I just need a couple more pieces of the jigsaw and I am looking at bringing in a couple more players.”

Brayley moved to sign Dave Collins from Great Wakering Rovers, before Tuesday night’s game.

He said: “He is a good player and will strengthen the squad. He can play up the middle or on the left.

“I also have another exciting signing in the pipeline that will be great for the club and hope to have it finalised by the weekend.”

Burnham travel to Cray Wanderers on Sunday for their next League encounter.

Brayley said: “I am looking forward to the game at the weekend. I don’t see it as a problem playing on Sunday.

“They are struggling and have sacked their manager so it is up to us to take advantage of that.”
