FORMER MALDON & TIPTREE boss Terry Spillane believes he was a victim of his early success in the Park Drive hot-seat.
The 52-year-old left by mutual consent following Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at home to Soham Town Rangers.
It was the club’s third straight defeat and a setback that left them 14th in Ryman One North.
Spillane admits he had “reached the end of the line” and that it was the “right time” for a parting of the ways.
And he also believes he was a victim of his early success, having guided them into the play-offs in his first season at the helm.
Only defeat in a penalty shoot-out denied them a crack at Ryman Premier football.
“Quite a few people expected that success every season,” said the former Stansted and Redbridge boss.
“But’s it’s impossible for that to happen."
