HANNAH Ueckermann feels the silver medal she claimed at the FINA World Masters Championships in Montréal is her greatest achievement in swimming.

The 51-year-old Witham Dolphins swimmer, who is from Maldon, is no stranger to competing in Masters events at World Championship level and has claimed medals before, but the rising standard of competitors makes this one all the more special.

She took silver in the women’s 200 metre breaststroke with a swim of three minutes 5.16 seconds against the best 50 to 54 age category swimmers on the planet.

Ueckermann, who has come back from a shoulder injury to compete this year, said: “I said I wanted to get into the top ten before I went, but I secretly wanted a podium place so to come back with a silver medal is wonderful.

“I’ve done a few World Championships now, but this was my first time in this age group and I think this one was my best yet."
