MALDON and Tiptree boss Terry Spillane was pleased with the reaction from his team after their exit from the FA Cup.

The Jammers secured a 2-1 victory at Cray Wanderers in their Ryman League division one north match on Tuesday night, following their preliminary round defeat to London Colney on Saturday.

Spillane said: “It was a good response from the lads.

“It was a good result against a team who I can’t believe are near the bottom of the table.

“They are one of the better teams we have faced this season.

“We played really well and it was all about showing character.

“The lads let everyone down on Saturday, and that’s no disrespect to Colney, we just didn’t play well.

“We bounced back and dug out the win, we were 2-0 ahead and should have been three or four ahead.

“These days we seem to like to be entertaining and let them back in but we sat back and got the result and the three points.

“All the lads played well but my man-of-the-match was Lewis Dark in midfield.

“I asked him for a little bit of a reaction after Saturday and he gave it to me, as all the lads did.”

This Saturday Maldon and Tipree entertain AFC Sudbury.
