MALDON and Tiptree boss Terry Spillane is going back to the drawing board.

Following their late 2-1 win against visiting Romford on Saturday in Ryman One North, they lost 2-1 at Burnham Ramblers on Bank Holiday Monday.

Ramblers’ Liam Burgess scored on 34 minutes and L'Heureux Menga doubled the advantage on 88 minutes.

Maldon pulled a goal back on 90 minutes through Ben Sartain but it wasn’t enough.

Spillane said: “It was absolutely throwing it down at Burnham.

“We had three or four chances in the first 30 minutes but didn’t take them.

“Things don’t seem to be going our way at the moment.

“A case in point was one of the Burnham lads controlled the ball with his hand and they go on to score.

“I asked the ref and he said he saw it as accidental.

“I can moan about these things but we just have to get on with it.

“In the second half they just camped it out and you can’t blame them for that.

“They scored a second late on but we pulled one back at the death.

“Then Grant Eagle got through and headed straight into the arms of the keeper at the end.

“So it’s back to the drawing board now.

“Burnham are a bit of a bogey side at the moment and I can’t wait to play them again to put that to rest.”

Maldon take a break from league action this weekend when they entertain London Colney in the FA Cup preliminary round.
