KEITH Wilson’s Heybridge Swifts emerged from the Bank Holiday weekend unbeaten.

Swifts picked up their first Ryman League division one north win of the season with a 2-0 result at Brightlingsea on Saturday.

They then followed that up with a 1-1 draw against visiting Barkingside on Monday in very wet conditions.

Swifts’ opening goal came from Billy Hunt in the first half but it was cancelled out by Jack Leachman’s effort in the second.

Wilson said: “I was just happy the match got finished, it was very wet.

“But saying that the pitch held up tremendously well on Monday.

“I thought we were excellent in the first half – we had Hunt’s goal and a number of goals ruled out for offside.

“Barkingside had a rollicking at half-time and they came out fired up for the second half.

“To be fair I think they had the edge over us.

“I wanted six points from six points over the weekend.

“But if you had offered me the four beforehand, I think I would have taken it.”

This weekend Heybridge take a step away from the league as they take part in the FA Cup.

They travel to Essex Senior League side FC Romania in the preliminary round on Sunday.
