WITHAM Town held on to their unbeaten Ryman Premier Division record on Bank Holiday Monday.

Garry Kimble’s side secured another draw as they held visiting Leiston in a 1-1 encounter.

The visitors took the lead in the second half when Cliff Akurang scored on 59 minutes.

But that advantage didn’t last long as Kurt Smith pulled the home side back into the game nine minutes later.

Heybridge Swifts were held to a draw by visiting Barkingside.

Keith Wilson’s men took the lead in a dominant first half but the resurgent visitors came back in the second half to take a share of spoils from this Ryman One North encounter.

Swifts opened the scoring when Billy Hunt headed home a Liam Springett free-kick on 20 minutes.

Barkingside equalised when a cross from the right received a touch from Callaway, Swifts keeper Danny Sambridge failed to collect the ball and Jack Leachman hit it into the back of an empty net on 55 minutes.

But despite a lot of pressure from both sides neither could break the deadlock.

It was a Ryman One North derby at Leslie Fields as Burnham Ramblers entertained Maldon and Tiptree And it was the home side that drew first blood when Ramblers’ Liam Burgess scored on 34 minutes.

Burnham then made the game safe when L'Heureux Menga scored on 88 minutes.

However, Maldon were thrown a lifeline two minutes later when Ben Sartain pulled a goal back.

But it wasn’t enough as the Ramblers held on to take the bragging rights.

Brightlingsea Regent made the trip to Wroxham and returned with a point after they were pegged back in the second half.

The visitors made a great start to the match when Ben Newson slotted home from a corner on three minutes.

But on 56 minutes Wroxham equalised through Jack Garrod.

However, neither side could then crack the other’s defences again to take the win
