BURNHAM Ramblers boss Bertie Brayley was pleased with the way his side bounced back after a heavy defeat at the weekend.

Brayley had asked for a big reaction after their 4-0 Ryman League division one north opening day defeat at the hands of Romford on Saturday.

And they gave just that at Leslie Field on Tuesday night with a 2-1 win against visiting Tilbury.

Burnham took the lead on 17 minutes through L’hevreux Menga. And their lead was doubled by player/manager Brayley on 52 minutes.

Aaron Waters pulled one back for the Dockers on 79 minutes.

Brayley said: “I wanted to test our character on Tuesday after Saturday’s defeat.

“And the boys didn’t let me down. We were a different side to the one that was out on the pitch at the weekend.

“Hopefully that was just first day jitters.

“Everybody gave their all on Tuesday night, including the guys on the bench.”
