MALDON suffered a second loss after losing by ten wickets at Wivenhoe.

Captain Martyn Coker continued his strong toss record and elected to bat.

Openers Jamie Glenn (28) and Chris Harris (25) found the boundary in the opening overs but could not sustain the momentum.

Coker (16) was the next man in but he too could only make a start.

Keeper-batsman Jimmy Ainscough (17) was the last of the Maldon batsmen to reach double figures but was sent back by Ryan Savill on his way to figures of 4-22.

With the remainder of the Maldon line-up being dismissed cheaply there was not a great deal of confidence going into the field when the Wivenhoe openers took guard.

First man in, Matt Durrell (39 not out) struck the Maldon bowlers around the ground but struggled against the economical Jack Riley.

Wivenhoe’s main fireworks came from Durrell’s opening partner Elliott who scored a powerful 71 not-out off of a mere 53 balls. Maldon were very disappointed to see the runs knocked off in the 20th over but know that things can only pick up from here and will look to get back to winning ways at home to Coggeshall Town, this weekend.
