MALDON and Tiptree boss Terry Spillane is already starting to think about next season.

The Jammers wrapped up their Ryman League division one north campaign with a 2-1 win against Ware at Park Drive thanks to goals from Ryan Wade and Lewis Dark.

Maldon’s season had petered out and they finished in ninth spot, equal on points with Soham Town Rangers who had a better goal difference.

Maldon had been hoping to make the play-offs, especially after finishing second last season and losing to Thamesmead in the play-off final on penalties.

Spillane said: “I am already making plans for next season and we should be able to start well as I am hopefully keeping most of the squad together.

“I have one or two targets in mind to boost the squad.

“It was a tough end to the season, we finished in ninth place on goal difference.

“It wasn’t terrible but it was disappointing.

“The only way we could have improved on last year was to win it and that was never the target. The target was the play-offs and that’s why it was disappointing.

“I’m going to have a month off now, because the run in was mentally tiring, and then crack on for next season.”
