HEYBRIDGE Swifts manager Jody Brown praised striker Jamie Guy after his double strike secured derby day success.

Swifts secured a 2-0 Ryman League division one north victory against visiting Burnham Ramblers on Saturday.

Guy fired both goals to move Swifts up to fourth place in the division and keep their play-off push on course.

And, ahead of tonight’s match against visiting Chatham Town, Brown was pleased with Guy’s recent performances.

He said: “He looked sharp and his opener, in which he showed real power and strength, reminded me of the type of goal he scored when he was 18.

“People tend to forget about the severity of Jamie’s injury, which led to him being out for 18 months.

“Not many semi-pro footballers would come back from a setback like that.

“But Jamie’s shown real perseverance, hunger and desire.

“He’s a stone lighter, getting quicker and sharper and that can only be a massive plus for us.”
