Maldon and Tiptree fell to a heavy defeat at the hands of Dereham Town.

The visitors lost out 6-1 in their Ryman League division one north encounter.

The game almost fell foul of the weather as the players were taken off the pitch early on due to a heavy downpour.

However, the game resumed and it was the home side that took the lead.

Aaron Kay’s 29th minute free-kick took a deflection and sailed into the back of the net.

Dereham went further in front six minutes later when Ryan Hawkins struck from close range.

But Maldon came back immediately when Jack Steveson reduced the deficit.

But it was the home side who scored next when Luke Tuttle made it 3-1 from the penalty spot just before half-time.

It got worse for Maldon on 52 minutes when Kay’s corner curled straight into the net.

It wasn’t going to be Maldon’s day when it went to 5-1 for Dereham following a Bradley Vaughan own goal.

And, with 15 minutes to go, Dereham completed their scoring through Danny Beaumont.
