Heybridge Swifts boss Jody Brown was disappointed in the manner of his side’s defeat against visiting Soham Town Rangers.

Swifts fell to a 3-1 Ryman League division one north defeat at Scraley Road on Tuesday night.

In only their third league game of 2014, after their fixtures have been badly affected by the weather, two quick first-half goals changed the complexion of the match.

Brown said: “To be honest we controlled the game for the first half hour.

“We started really brightly and feared that we might be a little rusty after not playing so many games but we did really well.

“We opened the scoring but then conceded two goals in the space of two minutes.

“They were soft goals as well brought about by our own errors.

“Our keeper brought down their player in the top left corner of our area, when he should have perhaps left him alone.

“But from being on top we were then on the back foot.

“But we came back in the second half and were controlling the game again and we gave away a goal from a set piece and it was 3-1.

“We had a couple of one on one chances that we could have put away but we weren’t able to score.

“I was disappointed by the result but Soham are in tremendous form and they’ve played throughout January.”
