MALDON and Tiptree boss Terry Spillane has urged his side to make home advantage count ahead of crucial back-to-back games at Park Drive.

They entertain Ryman League division one north leaders VCD Athletic on Saturday and follow that up by hosting Aveley, next Tuesday night.

Maldon boast one of the best home records in the division, having won nine times in front of their fans this season.

And Spillane’s side went the whole of the last campaign without losing at Park Drive prior to their defeat on penalties against Thamesmead Town, in the play-off final.

He said: “Home advantage is important and we know what we’ve got to do.

“We went unbeaten at home throughout the whole of last season.

“We did well at the start of this season and then lost two home games on the spin.

“Realistically, I think we need to win all of our home games between now and the end of the season.

“We know that it will be a tough game on Saturday but we have enough about us to do well and it’s one that we’re looking forward to.

“I don’t think VCD will underestimate us but if they do, we’ll be ready to take full advantage.”
