HEYBRIDGE Swifts boss Jody Brown has admitted being puzzled by the postponement of Saturday’s game at Thurrock.
The Ryman League division one north match was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
Brown was disappointed by the decision and, speaking generally, said that he feels games are now called off too easily, too quickly.
“I was a bit puzzled by our call-off on Saturday,” said Brown.
“The pitch inspection was arranged for 11am and then the game was called off at 11.40am.
“That, to me, suggests it was touch-and-go and if that was the case late-morning, with more than three hours to go before kick-off, then surely the decision to postpone came too early?
“I’m not a groundsman and I’m not a weatherman, so I stand to be corrected.
“And I’m not for a second suggesting any clubs have any hidden agenda when they postpone games.
“I’m just saying it as I see it, as a frustrated manager, desperate to start playing games. Unfortunately, you reach a point where you’re resigned to games being called off.
“It affects both your preparation and mindset and that’s so sad.”
