JAMIE Guy has joined Heybridge Swifts.

The 26-year-old former Colchester United professional has agreed terms with Swifts after having been transfer listed by Needham Market in December.

Subject to the registration paperwork going through in time, Guy could be included in the squad for the match at Redbridge tomorrow.

Guy, who progressed through the youth ranks at the U’s, signed as a professional in 2004 and went on to make 52 league appearances.

Since being released in 2010 he turned out for Grays Athletic before joining Braintree Town.

During his spell at Cressing Road, in February 2011, he suffered a double open fractured leg, breaking his tibia and fibula in what could have been a career ending injury.

Guy played for Maldon and Tiptree last season, since leaving Braintree where he had spent two years, and was a key signing for Needham Market in August last year penning a two-year contract at the Suffolk side.

Swifts manager Jody Brown said: ‘’I’ve worked with Jamie at three clubs going back to when he was 16 years old at Colchester United.

“We have a very good relationship and both I and Jamie are confident that we can get the best out of him here at Heybridge. ‘’ Guy has started seventeen games this season for Needham Market and made four substitute appearances, scoring nine goals in the process.

“I feel that bringing in Jamie could be key to our rebuilding plans.’’

Swifts have recentley lost strikers Luke Callander and Michael Cheek to Chelmsford City and with Russell Malton heading to Needham Market the club needed to bolster their attacking options.
