Swifts boss Hawkes believes they can continue their FA Cup adventure

HEYBRIDGE Swifts boss Mark Hawkes insists his side have the firepower to continue their FA Cup adventure.
The Scraley Road outfit secured their ticket into the third qualifying round after an impressive 3-2 victory at Harlow, on Saturday.
They had hoped to be rewarded with a home tie but, instead, now face a trip to Conference South high-fliers Bromley.
Swifts will start as underdogs against a team second in their division and two levels higher in the non-league pyramid – but Hawkes sees no reason why his players cannot cause an upset at the aptly-named Courage Stadium.
“Bigger teams than Bromley have slipped up and been knocked out of the FA Cup,” said a defiant Hawkes.
“And smaller teams than ourselves have caused upsets, so there’s nothing to say we can’t go there and get the right result.
“We know it’ll be a tough game but we’ve definitely got the firepower to hurt them.
“I’m confident of that and our current form is very good, with just one defeat in a dozen league and cup games. I just wish we’d been rewarded with a home game as it’s been so long since we played an FA Cup tie at Scraley Road.”
Swifts visit Uxbridge in the FA Trophy preliminary round on Saturday.
Uxbridge play in Southern League division one central and Hawkes said: “It’s another winnable tie.”
