Burnham Ramblers' victory leaves boss Wilson with mixed feelings

BURNHAM Ramblers manager Keith Wilson admitted having mixed feelings after his side’s nail-biting 3-2 victory at home to Enfield 1893.

The Leslie Field boss was delighted to secure three more precious points to keep his side top of the Essex Senior League table.

However, he admitted being concerned by another sub-standard performance and desperately wants his side to rediscover their form from earlier in the season.

Ramblers are still two points clear at the summit, after rivals Great Wakering Rovers could only draw 4-4 at Sporting Bengal United on Monday night.

“First and foremost, we won the game and that’s all that matters,” said Wilson, whose side prevailed thanks to first-half goals from Brad Hunter, Neil Richmond and Mitch Stuart-Evans.

“However, I can’t deny that we’re experiencing a blip, in terms of our recent performances.

“We were awful at the weekend and I can honestly say the better team lost.

“It was a really poor display, especially in the first half when we were shocking and yet still went in at the break 3-0 up.

“There’s still so much to be positive about and the main thing is that we’re still winning games.”

Ramblers took a break from league action on Wednesday night when they drew 1-1 at Barkingside in the League Knockout Cup semi-final first leg.

It starts a flurry of midweek matches, with a league assignment to Haringey and Waltham Development next Wednesday following Saturday’s trip to London APSA.
